Yes, its supposed to be heading downwards. My reason is that since it is considerably higher-tech than any spacecraft we have now, it does not need to rely on air-friction to slow its descent and can rely on anti-grav tech to control the descent, thus it descends angled down, minimising friction and wear and tear on the hull.

Colours are adequate on all quarters, shadings, tonings and shadows for the piece are fair enough.
Personally, the foreground red aircraft looks queerly not in position.
Perhaps more to do with the angle of the craft... ought to be angled down more,
if not angled upwards for dramatic contrast bah, I feel.
Or that the craft could have been flying at an angle geared towards the viewer, slightly obscuring the aircraft carrier (foreground / background contrast), for a more engaging presence for dramatic effect.
Maybe, maybe. But hey, just my view man. Hopes it benefits you.
